Everyone please listen up. Earlier today we were notified that Ryan was
not feeling well. Unfortunately, he hasn't gotten better. He's got the
flu with quite a high fever, but will stay as long as he's able. If we
end up needing to cut the chat short, we will reschedule for a later
date when Ryan recovers.
Ryan will be joining us in just a moment.
Welcome everyone to the Live Chat with Ryan James! Ryan has just joined
us, so please start submitting your questions!
Glad to have you here with us tonight Ryan! I'm sorry you are not
feeling well, I hope you recover soon! Are you ready to get started?
Yep, I'm ready to do what I can, while I can.
Ok! Here we go!
Hi Ryan!!!I know you've made a lot of guest appearances on numerous
shows(I've seen most of them) and I was wondering which show was the
hardest to do and who you enjoyed working with the most.
Umm, I don't know. They've all been fun to do and none has been really
As to most enjoyed working with, I would say Eric Paulsen, the executive
director of "3719 Broadleaf."
Hi Ryan, Ian from Australia here. Sorry to hear you aren't feeling
well, I hope you get better soon. I also hope your diving is going well.
Any interesting projects in the works that you would like to tell us
Ian, thanks for the good wishes, and diving is fine these days, though
it's pretty cold soem of these nights.
Hay Ryan..so do u like surfing or wakeboarding??? if not wat sports
do you like??
I have tried either yet, but I really like off road moto riding.
Actually, there's a long list of sports I like, but it's too long for
C O R T Z

Cortz, welcome here. That's a good one, for they've all made lasting
Do you think you will be acting in the next 20 years , if not what
other jobs would you like to do?
Hi Zoe, I really don't know because that's one thing I haven't decided.
There are SO many options. I'm in the process of starting a business now
(no, details aren't available yet), so I'll see if I can continue acting
and get other enterprises going, too.
Hi Ryan!! Its Ellie From australia, just wondering can you describe
your average day as an actor when your shooting and what are your plans
for the future?
Ellie, I'm sorry, but with the fever I've got now, that's a little too
much to describe. As for the future plans, please just see the previous
Do you have anything in common with any of the characters that
Ash, I would say yes. Some of them I had some in common
with...like Brian in "State of Grace"...I'm in cotillion now! :)
Is it hard to do school work when you're on a set?
No, it's not hard at all to get it done. There is a minimum of 3 hours
set aside while on set that is just for school time.
Well ryan... in this year 2003.. which movie do u think is the BEST?
I haven't seen all the ones out yet that I want to, so I really can't
say what's the best in 2003.
Are you interested in possibly going into directing or writing or
Well, I've thought about it and we've talked about it, but I don't know
for sure yet.
What do you do on a rainy day when you can't do the outside
activities you enjoy doing like riding your skateboard, motorbike, etc.
Lots of reading, and catch up on sleep...if I can.
Hey Ryan! I was just wondering....What do you want for Christmas!
World peace, health...oh, wait, that's what beauty pagaent contestants
Oh, and to get rid of this fever and feel good again.
Hey Ryan! Do you still want to attend the air force academy... if
so, do you wish to fly planes?
Yes, to both. Lots of good questions are coming in, by the way.
how long would you normally have to work on set?
Each day is limited by law to 9 1/2 hours, until I turn 16 and can work
longer. Each job requires a different number of days on set.

Hey Ryan, This is Jennifer From australia. When shooting a movie, do
u get time for socialising with family and friends?
The location determines how much I can socialize, but there's some free
time on each movie schedule.
Thanks for taking the time to chat with us, even though you're sick
Ryan. Has 3719 Broadleaf been released yet? I haven't seen it in
Australia yet & I'm just wondering if I missed it :)
My pleasure. No, Ian, it's not been released yet, and I don't know if it
will get to Australia. That will depend on what they set up for
distribution. That is actually an "art" film, not a full-length feature,
but it should be really good!
which movie would you say was the absolute hardest to shoot?
"A Month of Sundays" was the toughest because I was in a coffin...a real
coffin in a real cemetary...and working with the legendary Rod Steiger!
What was it like to work with the late Rod SteigeR?
Interesting! Very interesting.
what made you made you want to become an actor?
I just kept hearing people tell my folks I should be an actor, so
finally when I was 5 I asked my mom if I should do "this acting everyone
says I should." She said I should if I wanted to, I asked her what
"acting" was, and after she explained I decided to give it a try. It has
been SO MUCH more, and better, than I expected!!
What would you say to those who also want to be a celebrity/actor?
Any tips? by the way I wish that your fever will get better, enjoy your
christmas, hope that all your christmas wishes will come true :)
Thank you, Mi, for your kind words and good wishes. Hm, I would say that
the most important thing is to be yourself, be true to yourself, only
continue if you feel good about it, and don't do it to be a
celebrity...do it because you LOVE it. I am fine without being a
celebrity, though I hope to get better and better. Those are the only
tips I can think of now.
Do u have an Idol?
I don't think so, because everyone has something special and worthy.

hey ryan, sorry i left i did it accidently. when u guest starred on
"judging amy" was it hard to play the rold as an 8year old boy who
thinks heis a girl?
No, not really. I was only 11 then, so it would be harder
now...impossible, probably...to realistically play 8, but the part about
believing I was a girl wasn't that hard...it was acting. I just used my
imagination, and having two nieces and a girl as a best friend for years
helped. It was easier than playing an evil character.
Yo Ryan 8-) When you arrive on set, can you settle into a role
quickly or do you need time to settle into the role? And feel better,
Thanks, I'll try to do that...soon! I usually settle into the role
during rehearsal. Remember, I've already had to "be" the character
during the audition and callback(s), so it's not totally new to me when
I get to the set.
Feel better Ryan, alright! But, hey, how do you eat a Reeses Peanut
In one bite, unless my mom's around! No, I guess it's usually two bites.
Is that your favorite candy? I know you ask everyone how they eat them.
How do you?
I eat it with two bites as well! I like the peanut butter... =) haha
where did you grow up? do u think that it, and your family and friends
had a big impact on who u r now?
I'm growing up in Ventura County, in southern California, and I'm SURE
that living here, my family, and my friends contribute to who I am.
I'm sure 3719 Broadleaf will be good... you're in it ;-) But seriously,
could you give a brief synopsis please? I haven't seen much information
about it anywhere. I guess if it doesn't make it to Australia, I'll just
have to hope for a US DVD release :)
It's based on a true episode in the director's life, and I play him at
the age of 10. It's funny, but also very dark. That's about all I can
think of to share now. I can go into detail once it's out and I'm up to

I hope you get better ryan and have a very merry chrissy. i hope u get
heaps of good prezzies and all of your dreams come true. How long does
it take u to remember your lines, it takes me like an hour to learn a 3
minute speech. is it hard to remember them and how long do u get?
I want to wish EVERYONE here a wonderful, happy, healthy holiday season!
Some lines are quick and easy to learn, others take more time, but I
don't attempt to memorize them. I learn them and work with them until
they feel real and come to me readily.
Hey Ryan...in three words, describe yourself. Any three words that you
can think of.
Right now...hot, achy, hungry.
Hey guys, our chat with Ryan has come to a close. Ryan, thank you for
coming to chat with us tonight, especially since you are sick! I hope
you get better soon, along with all the fans in there! We hope you'll
come back soon :)
Thanks, Kris and everyone. It was fun and I appreciate your wishes. Hope
to do it again...soon. Happy new year all year, Ryan :)
Take care, Ryan!
